Congress legislation posted

Congress legislation for the 2012 tournament is now available here.

The Prelims packet contains the entirety of the docket for the three preliminary sessions. The Super Session memo outlines the issues that competitors should be ready to debate; the actual legislation will be provided shortly before the beginning of the Super Session.

Schedules now posted

The full PFI 2012 schedule is now posted at http://pennsburyfalcon.wordpress.com/policies/schedules/.

Major changes from the past:

  • Speech Brackets have been finalized
  • Congress sessions are slightly shorter; Session 2 no longer carries over to Saturday morning

The schedule page also has information about when to arrive and when events will begin and end each day. And, Supplemental Events are described in greater detail, with some minor adjustments from our inaugural run in 2011.

TOC Extemp Clarification

We have received some clarification about qualifying to the TOC Extemp. As in the past, two qualifying “legs” or “bids” are needed to enter the Tournament of Champions in May. Bid levels are now determined by the number of competitors in the field as well as reaching a particular elimination level.

Accordingly, we will break to Quarters in Extemp if there are 60 entries, though that is below our typically cutoff for Quarterfinals. So, sign ‘em up!

2012 Pennsbury Falcon Invitational – February 3-4

And we’re back! Hope you enjoyed a quiet summer. The 9th annual Pennsbury Falcon Invitational will be held Friday and Saturday, February 3-4 at Pennsbury High School in Fairless Hills, PA.

This year, we have had our available rooms cut, which requires some changes to entry limits and scheduling. Here’s a quick summary:

  • All events will begin at 4pm on Friday. Dinner will be served for all events.
  • Speech events will be divided into three groups. Students may enter up to three events, but only one in each group. All Speech events will still have 4 rounds.
  • Overall entry limits are lower than in the past (this will mainly affect the debate events). In addition, initial school entry limits have been lowered.
  • School entry limits will be lifted two weeks before the tournament. If any event is full after that time, drops will be assessed a fee – you may not hold spots that prevent another student from registering.

We are looking forward to another great tournament! See you in February!
